Install and Use the Phasoric Web Clipper

Capture the web. Keep the knowledge.

Phasoric Web Clipper brings useful web content into the workspace for connected intelligence as durable, portable Markdown. Capture an article, exact passage, bookmark, image, highlight, or supported PDF without copying and reformatting it by hand.

Install from the Chrome Web Store

1. Open Phasoric in desktop Chrome.

2. Select Install clipper in the Phasoric workspace banner. You can also visit chromewebstore.google.com and search for Phasoric Web Clipper.

3. On the official Phasoric listing, select Add to Chrome, then confirm Add extension.

4. Return to Phasoric. Refresh the page if the installation banner remains, then select Check again.

5. Optional: open Chrome's Extensions menu and pin Phasoric Web Clipper for one-click access.

The clipper is free to install. It does not request permission to read every website. Chrome grants temporary access only to the active page after you invoke a capture, highlighting, reader, or OCR action.

Connect it to Phasoric

You can use extraction, highlighting, OCR, templates, reader view, and the local capture queue immediately. Connect the extension when you want to send captures into your Phasoric workspace:

1. Sign in to Phasoric.

2. Open Capture Inbox.

3. Select Connect clipper.

4. Wait for the confirmation showing imported captures and completed synchronization.

No API key, capture token, server URL, or website host permission is required. Connecting imports waiting captures, updates the extension's vault choices, and refreshes its local note mirror.

Capture your first page

1. Open a normal HTTPS article.

2. Select the pinned Phasoric icon to open the side panel.

3. Choose Article, Selection, Bookmark, or OCR.

4. Review the title, source URL, destination vault, folder, tags, and generated Markdown.

5. Select Save to Capture Inbox.

If Phasoric is closed, the capture remains in the extension's local Waiting to sync queue. Open Phasoric later, go to Capture Inbox, and select Connect clipper to bring it into your workspace.

Select the i icon beside a capture mode, tool, destination field, or queue section whenever you want an in-panel explanation and usage tip.

Choose the right capture mode

  • Article isolates the readable page and converts it to editable Markdown.
  • Selection captures only the passage you selected while preserving supported formatting and links.
  • Bookmark saves the page title and source URL without copying the article body.
  • OCR recognizes text visible on the page when normal extraction is not enough.
  • Chrome's context menu can capture a page, selected text, a linked page, or an image.
  • Reader preview opens the extracted article in a distraction-free view before you save it.

Article capture preserves supported headings, emphasis, links, nested lists, tables, fenced code blocks, quotations, images, canonical URLs, and available author, publication, date, excerpt, and Schema.org details.

Highlight while you read

Select Highlight page from the side panel, then:

  • Select text to save an exact highlight.
  • Shift-click a content block to save the block.
  • Alt-click an image to save an image highlight.
  • Add an optional comment in the extension.

The Page highlights section updates as you save. Select Show beside one highlight or Show all to restore its visible marker after a reload or page revisit. Highlight restoration tolerates normal text wrapping and markup changes, but a site that replaces the original wording may no longer contain a usable anchor.

Capture PDFs and scanned text

Open a supported PDF in Chrome and invoke the clipper. Phasoric inspects the document locally, uses embedded text when available, and runs packaged OCR only on scanned pages that need it. Review the resulting Markdown and any OCR warning before saving.

OCR processing runs locally in the extension. Its PDF tools, OCR engine, and English recognition data are packaged with the extension rather than downloaded as remote code. Large visible-page captures are divided into overlapping regions and processed by up to two local OCR workers at once. Each completed region is merged into page order and streamed into the Markdown preview. The extension keeps the workers warm for subsequent captures and shows live progress in the side panel. Worker startup, image preparation, and recognition regions are time-bounded. If Chrome stalls a worker, Phasoric abandons that worker, retries with a fresh one, and reports a visible error instead of waiting indefinitely.

If you switch tabs while OCR is running, the clipper cancels the old tab's job. Click the Phasoric toolbar icon on the new tab after the text you want is visible; Chrome grants temporary access to that tab and the clipper re-runs the currently selected capture mode there.

Create repeatable capture workflows

Open Phasoric Web Clipper settings from Chrome's Extensions menu to:

  • Create reusable templates with variables, properties, prompt fields, filters, conditions, and custom page selectors.
  • Route captures automatically by URL, page type, capture type, or priority.
  • Create a new note, append above or below an existing note, or add a capture to a daily note.
  • Export or import your clipper templates, rules, and highlights as JSON.

Captures under Waiting to sync remain local until Phasoric receives them. Select the × beside an unwanted capture to remove it after confirmation, then run the capture again with different content or settings.

Keep article images durable

When an article is delivered to a hosted account, Phasoric securely imports up to 25 PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, or AVIF images into private attachment storage and rewrites the note to durable attachment references. Images that cannot be safely retrieved or exceed the plan's storage limit keep their original remote link, so the article remains usable.

Optional agent access

The extension maintains a synchronized local note mirror so approved browser agents can work while the main Phasoric app is closed. Open the extension settings to view or rotate the local MCP token used to pair an agent.

In supported Chrome versions with WebMCP enabled, the extension side panel and its Agent Console register namespaced phasoric_extension_* tools. Open Agent Console from the side panel when you want a full-page registry that stays available while you browse. Read tools can search the synchronized mirror. Any proposed note change appears in the side panel for your review and must be explicitly approved before it can synchronize to Phasoric.

Phasoric's own workspace registers a separate phasoric_* tool surface. The separate namespace and document origin prevent the app and extension from registering competing tools, and the extension does not inject private mirror tools into ordinary web pages. To inspect the extension tools, open DevTools for Agent Console and select Application → WebMCP. Do not inspect the extension service worker; it has no document-scoped WebMCP registry.

Privacy and local storage

  • The extension reads the active page only after you invoke it.
  • Extraction, PDF inspection, template rendering, and OCR run locally.
  • Captures become portable Markdown rather than a proprietary clip archive.
  • Waiting captures, highlights, settings, and the synchronized note mirror stay in Chrome's extension storage.
  • Clearing the extension's storage or uninstalling it removes that locally stored extension data.

Phasoric Web Clipper does not sell captured data or use it for advertising. A Phasoric account is required only for workspace synchronization and eligible hosted-image storage.

If the clipper is not detected

  • Confirm that you are using current desktop Chrome and that Phasoric Web Clipper is enabled in Chrome's Extensions menu.
  • Refresh the existing Phasoric tab after installation.
  • Return to Capture Inbox and select Connect clipper again.
  • If a capture is still waiting, open the side panel and check Waiting to sync before reconnecting.
